The Catholic Women’s League of Canada call its members to grow in faith, and witness to the love of God through ministry and service.
The St. Augustine Catholic Women’s League received it’s charter in 1952. At present, one hundred women are members. We are Catholic women providing faith-based opportunities for social interaction, personal development and community service.
In 2022, the St. Augustine’s CWL celebrated 70 years of ministry and service. It is a council with a rich history. A history of faith, fun and fulfilment. Over the decades, the women have embraced the league’s motto “For God and For Canada.
Sisterhood, faith, charity, social justice, family and service to the Church and the community are phrases which best describe St. Augustine’s CWL both now and in the past. We pray and worship, donate to charities, fundraise within the Parish and community, support Outreach Programs and distribute graduation awards and bursaries.
Our 70th Anniversary Celebration was held on Sunday, September 18th, 2022. The Parish community was invited to attend a Mass of Thanksgiving followed by a luncheon in the Parish Centre. One of the highlights of the day was the blessing and first time use of the altar linens and frontals which the council gifted to the Parish. Funds from a bequest covered the cost. The day was both enjoyable and memorable.
May the members of the St. Augustine’s Catholic Women’s League continue to entrust their work and themselves to the Patroness of the League- the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title of “Our Lady of Good Counsel.”
